Are you still in pain, even though all tests and experts say you shouldn’t be? The cause of your symptoms may have been missed on static X-ray, MRI or CT. DIGITAL MOTION X-RAY OR DMX is quick, easy, and may reveal permanent injury commonly missed by other diagnostic procedures. DMX is a motion X-ray imaging system used to visualize and evaluate all body joints in motion. Using this technology objectively and visually demonstrates aberrant movement of bones, allowing doctors and radiologists to specifically determine which ligaments or other soft tissues are injured. Proper diagnosis can help prove your need for compensation in cases of injury, and can provide doctors the objective data needed to provide better treatment protocols for your recovery.

DIGITAL MOTION X-RAY® is a diagnostic test that records real time, full motion live X-ray imaging of any body joint at a rate of 30 frames per second. Unlike standard hospital fluoroscopy imaging, where the body remains still and the X-ray machine moves around it, DMX allows us to observe any joint in the body while putting the body itself through ranges of motion. Therefore, we can better understand and diagnose joint injury and ligament dysfunction.

Who Can Benefit from DMX?

Patients

Still in pain, even though doctors say there is nothing wrong? DMX can diagnose joint injury missed on plain film X-ray, MRI and CT.

Attorneys

Provide irrefutable evidence of permanent soft tissue injury after trauma that can’t be seen on standard X-ray, MRI, or CT.

Doctors

Better understand etiology of patient symptoms, especially if pain is increased with motion. Diagnose injuries that can be missed on static imaging. Visualize functionality of hardware in post surgical cases.

DMX is a videofluoroscopic equipment modality that is specifically designed for spinal motion examination at relatively low radiation dosage (Digital Motion X-Ray®, Palm Harbor, FL, USA). Because the radiation is pulsed, rather than a constant stream of radiation as used in older fluoroscopic technology, DMX only uses a 2-3 kilovoltage peak (kVp). Since 80 kVp is typically used for a typical plain cervical x-ray, the total radiation dose for a 5 view videofluoroscopic DMX motion study is approximately equivalent to the dose used for a 7 view cervical standard medical Davis X-ray series.
